Description: If costumes could be couture, this would definitely qualify. Heavy ( 2 lb.) flawlessly made piece boasts pricey, intricate details like rolled fabric netting, double IKAT front panel, thick rows of shiny cartouche and jewel trim and rolled metal bottom fringe drops. There is no fiber content given, it’s possible this is synthetic, but the solid, rust-colored fabric has the slubby, organic look of raw silk. The IKAT panel is subtle and complex. The seeing is expert, flat and finished. Whoever made this knew their craft. There is a handwritten label that makes me think this was never commercially available- maybe created for a movie or a stage production? Amazingly, the costume appears to be in absolutely pristine condition. I did not find a missing bead anywhere. I am assuming as it is a Pharaoh’s costume that it is cut for the male figure.
