Description: A Vintage Native American Trade Beads and Bone Bead Necklace. I do not know the origin of this necklace. I purchased it at an antique show on the Northern Coast of California more than 30 years ago. The man I purchased it from said some of the beads in the bottom portion of the necklace were "Russian Blue "African trade beads. They made their way into the economy of the early 1800's and were used by fur traders. Here's a recap of the types of beads in this necklace: A) There are four (4) Bone Hair pipe beads; 1 3/4: long-they appear to be reproductions as they are uniform in color. B) There are twelve (12) small round brass beads: 7.48mm each. C) There are Forty-two,(42) Royal Blue sculptured beads: 8.41mm each. D) There are Six (6) Russian Blue African trade beads-they are glass, barrel shaped and 10.91mm E) There are seven (7) Turquoise blue glass spacer beads: about 8.61mm, they are disc shapedF) There are three tapered oval Venetian Glass beads in a deep red or burgundy color that are spectacular. All of the beads are strung on a waxed thread or maybe even sinew.
