A Tree is Nice, Janice May Udry, library binding (1956)

Description: This is an original 1956 hardcover copy (with special library binding) of "A Tree is Nice," written by Janice May Udry, published by Harper & Row, and beautifully illustrated by Marc Simont. It is an excellent resource for a young child who is learning to read and has an interest in nature in general or trees in particular. It is an unusual size, measuring 6 5/8" wide and 11 1/4" high. As an ex-library book, this copy has library stamps, some written library notations, and glue residue inside the front covers. The copy being offered is in fair condition overall, showing definite signs of frequent use by children and definite library features. As you'll see in my first three photos, the covers have a lot of wear and a few stains. Inside, there are library stamps inside the front cover, vertical strips of dried glue where the inner flaps of the old dust jacket (which is no longer present) were glued down, and a patch of dried glue inside the back cover where a date-due pouch had been. Written notations occur inside both covers and on a few of the pages, and while the pages are fairly clean, there are indeed occasional stains, smudges, and wrinkles. One school stamp and two written numbers also occur on the pages.
