Handcarved in Agate which is a hard stone and very difficult to carve so not used as often as the more traditional shell. It is a stone usually reserved for the very finest cameos only. The sevens are 2 maidens profiles and each is different. The thick heavy gauge gold mount has a rope edge and scroll detail. Hallmarked on the post.
