EMB & HVY EMB, Gold, Air Brushed,PUBL:Illustrated This is a nice selection of BIRTHDAY postcards that have the classic motifs that were seen on antique postcards from the early 1900s. These have FLOWERS, and two of them are part of the same SET and have GOLD backgrounds. These postcards are EMBOSSED (3) and HEAVY EMBOSSED (2) with an extra sheet added to the back. They are also AIR BRUSHED with color. The postcards are nicely made and the surface especially on the Heavy Embossed postcards stands up. They are colorful and attractive to look at. They are from the same publisher, Illustrated Postal Cards, that uses the eagle as its logo. The publisher of these postcards, Illustrated Postal Card (1904-14; New York, Berlin), was a major publisher of postcards and published in Germany (Leipzig, Saxony). Besides postcards, they also published fine art cards that were very popular. The company has a distinctive eagle trademark logo and is considered as one of the “most wanted publishers” by collectors. They produced many beautifully embossed, heavy embossed (with an extra sheet on the back), and glitter postcards. They were one of the best publishing houses during the “Golden Age of Postcards” (1908-1915 era). These are good postcards to add to a collection. They would appeal to collectors because they capture the style used back in the early 1900s, and show a glimpse of life back then. They have good detail, and they are a pleasure to look at. Overall, a nice selection of antique Birthday postcards at a very reasonable price. The postcards are UNPOSTED (2) and POSTED (3) with cancel dates of 1907-08. These would have been "Printed in Germany" during the "Golden Age of Postcards" (1908-1915 era). One of these has an UNDIVIDED back, and the others have DIVIDED backs. These are BETTER POSTCARD and good for a collector. The postcards will keep their value! They are sleeved and in good condition. However, please expect some creases, cuts, stains and edge wear due to their age. The photos show the postcards and the backs. The postcards are shipped in a sturdy envelope.
