Monarda punctata is categorized as a perennial that is native to much of the eastern and midwestern United States. The flowers appear creamy white, and have accents of purple above and below their blooms. Spotted Bee Balm, also known as “Horsemint” prefers an area that is average to dry. It is very forgiving of drought and enjoys an area of sunlight. Great when used in a butterfly garden, as a border plant, or even in a natural setting or meadow. Sowing The SeedMonarda seeds can be started indoors, or directly outdoors. If started indoors, sow at a depth of 1/16” under topsoil, in peat pots, 6 to 8 weeks prior to the last frost.
