Description: For your prime viewing pleasure is this beautiful vintage Camco LA era C-500 drum set in gorgeous walnut finish with very rarely seen factory gold hardware. This was originally owned by Camco endorser Maury Baker, a truly prolific player most notably with Janis Joplin, as well as performing and recording with everyone from Zappa, Hendrix, and Santana to Judy Collins, Trini Lopez, Albert Lee and Johnny & Edgar Winter. During the 1970s, Camco was known to offer gold hardware to endorsers. These are in well loved condition with normal wear as this set was played, not stored as a show piece. There are light surface marks here and there, but no deep scratches or damage. The bearing edges are original and true on these legendary undersized 6-ply maple shells. Some of the gold T-rods/claws have been replaced by standard gold rods/claws. The mufflers had been removed prior to us acquiring them. One of the hoops on each tom have been replaced with a gold hoop of similar ageing. This set was outfitted with gold 1970s Pearl hardware for the toms, and has never had any other form of tom mounts/receiver installed. Camco enthusiasts know that it was common practice for Camco to build there drums without mounts to allow for the owner to have mounts of their choosing installed. One of the T handle screws on the Pearl bass drum tom bracket plate has been replaced. There are no extra holes or other modifications of any kind. It tunes up with the greatest of ease and sounds simply astounding in a wide range of tunings as one might expect. Enjoy!
