Description: A 1920s vintage GECOPHONE crystal detector or receiver set housed in a mahogany case with a base measuring 9 in (229 mm) x 6 in (152 mm) and standing 6.25 in (159 mm) high. The receiver with open galena detector has working instructions to the underside of the lift up lid. It has the ' BBC ' stamp and P.O. Reg. No. 102. and ebonite control panel with connection points for the aerial, earth and headphones.The controls comprise a tuning knob and a lever to adjust the detector.Tuning uses a variometer and turning the knob will change the resonant frequency of the tuned circuit. A separate coil could be used for the reception of long wave.It has not been tested but appears to be in good condition. Cosmetically, a couple of small repairs to extrerior corners of lid which don't detract.It comes with the other parts shown ie headphones It is what it is .
