Henson was an comedian, actor, director, and producer, prominent during the silent film era and the beginning of the Hollywood during the Golden Age. He brought several popular West End Edwardian musical comedies to the stage during the First World War. During the Second World War Henson formed the ENSA, which brought entertainment to the British troops stationed abroad.A biography on the life of the Shakespearean actor Edmund Kean.Kean performed his Shakespeare pieces in London, Paris, Belfast, Quebec, and New York. He was particularity known for his short stature, and for his gossip-inspiring personal life. An eccentric man, Kean worked mostly at Drury Lane, and restored the tragic ending to 'King Lear', which had been previously replaced on stage by a happier ending.Written by F. W. Hawkins. CONDITION In the original half morocco binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Spines and extremities are a little faded. Light rubbing to the boards and spines, and a touch of bumping to the extremities. Rubbing is a little heavier to the rear board of Volume I. Front hinge of Volume I is stating but firm. Bookplate to the verso to the front endpaper of Volume I, and to the front pastedown of Volume II. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean. Page 113/114 of Volume II is detached but present.
