S. coins and currency, Lincoln Gold & Coin is pleased to offer this $500 Confederate States Bond issued May 1, 1861. It was among the earliest bonds issued at Montgomery by an act of the CSA Congress dated February 28, 1861. It’s Criswell number 7 and Ball number 6. There is no engravers identification on the bond, but it was printed by the American Banknote company in New Orleans. Thirteen of its original $20 interest coupons are still attached. The bond was purchased by European investors and bears a Dutch revenue stamp in the upper right hand corner. This historic bond is ideal for framing. It measures approximately 13 1/2 inches wide, and just under 13 inches in length.
