1/400 Diecast L-049 Constellation Pan Am Dragon Wings #55746 in Collector Tin

Description: I need to clear some space on my shelves, so I have to part with some of my collection. THIS IS MY LAST ONE! The Lockheed Constellation is easily recognizable by the sleek dolphin-shaped fuselage, four engines and distinctive triple tail. Developed before and during WWII, the Constellation was one of the first post-war commercial airliners. This item represents the first version (L-049) of the Connie and had advanced features like pressurized cabin, hydraulically boosted controls and a deicing system. This one sports the Pan Am livery and now you can have it in a convenient size for displaying on your desk or shelf. Fun Fact: Star Trek’s Gene Roddenberry was a member of the flight crew of Pan Am Flight 121 which had an engine failure and subsequent engine fires and eventual crash in Syria in 1947. An attempt was made to revive the company in the late 1990s, but the new Pan Am ultimately ended up facing bankruptcy again and the name was sold in 1998. The current owners of the Pan Am brand operate a small number of flights within the continental United States, to Puerto Rico and to the Dominican Republic. This beauty is completely painted and assembled and ready for immediate display. It comes carefully cradled in a perfectly shaped foam insert packed in a collector tin about 6” x 6” x 2”. As you can see from the pictures, the tin is in great shape (some oxidized spots) and still wrapped with a decorative cardboard sleeve, so I consider it factory fresh and absolutely gift-ready. I opened the tin and removed the top layer of foam for pictures. The other photos of the plane outside the tin are from the internet. This plane has never been out of the tin. This item contains one diecast model of one of the world’s first commercial four-engine airliners that has been painstakingly painted and finished, along with a sturdy display stand.
